Training days:
2 & 3 September 2024 from 9-17 hours tentative
Training Location: KBG-6.26 & 6.24

Description of experiments:
Electrolytes (Kanvaly Lacina & TA): mogelijk vacature
-> Determination of electrolytes in "blood" samples, using AAS. The hypo/hyper levels of electrolytes in patient blood samples in relation to the patients clinical picture.
Small molecules (Ruud Cox & TA): mogelijk vacature
-> Determination of Quinine concentrations in commercial samples (i.e. Tonic water) with the use of Fluorescence and UV/Vis spectroscopy.

Course description:
In this course we get 3 times a group of 40 students who take our subject within a period of three weeks, i.e. blok 1, blok 2 and blok 3
Of these three weeks periods students deal with two experiments (see descriptions above) during two weeks. In the first week students will follow lectures on Spectroscopy and medical imaging methods. The subsequent weeks students perform experiments.
The structure of the experimental week is as follows:
Monday (1st time): General intro to the course and safety intro (1h). Intro to the experiments(1h), followed by literature search session (2h) in two separate groups
Monday (2nd time): Intro to the experiments (1h), followed by literature search session (2h) in two separate groups
Tuesday: Feedback lecture (2 separate groups) on how well theory is understood by students (1h), start with experimental set-up in 4 separate groups
Wednesday: Discussion of protocol and lab work
Thursday: lab work and final report
Friday: final report and grading
